How to prep for the Dear Evan Hansen movie
Today is going to be an amazing day, and here’s why: we’re getting ready for the DEAR EVAN HANSEN movie! Whether you’ve seen the Broadway show, read the book, done both (or neither!) we have a few suggestions to best prepare yourself for the sure-to-be-emotional experience that will be watching this film.
BUY TISSUES
Just trust me on this one. You’re going to need tissues. I mean, can you even get through trailer without shedding a few tears? You would think you could make it through a 3-minute video but I was woefully unprepared.
WATCH THE TRAILER
Speaking of, have you seen the trailer? It gives you goosebumps!
LISTEN TO THE SOUNDTRACK
If you’ve seen the Tony Award-winning Broadway musical, you’re already familiar with the powerful playlist of songs from the show. Even if you haven’t, you’ve probably already heard the songs and know just how moving the music can be. Get ready for the movie by singing along and learning the lyrics early. You know that once you see the movie, you’re going to be singing for days and days afterwards.
GET MORE TISSUES
Have you run out? How could you not? If you wear mascara, I highly recommend investing in waterproof before watching the movie.
Read DEAR EVAN HANSEN: THE NOVEL
Inspired by the Broadway show, the New York Times bestseller is an inspiring reminder that none of us are as alone as we might feel. The novel digs deep into the story, with stunning detail, multiple points-of-view, and nods to song lyrics throughout.
SWAG
I know there are fans out there who already have DEH swag and what better place to show it off than the movie? Whether it’s a phone case, tote bag, or maybe an iconic blue polo, make sure you don’t leave home without your Dear Evan Hansen fandom on full-display.
SNACKS
What’s watching a movie without the snacks? Popcorn is my all-time favorite snack no matter where I am, but I could also be convinced to buy some Snowcaps for way too much money at the concessions counter.
RESTOCK YOUR TISSUES
I can’t possibly imagine you have any tissues left and you haven’t even seen the movie yet. Always a good idea to have extra and you’re definitely going to need them while watching the film. Might as well just bring an entire box.
